Policy And Procedures

Appointment

You can call for an appointment during normal business hours, Monday- Friday, 8:00 am to 12:00 noon and 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The office number is 719-633-3850; fax 719-227-0840. If a child will be accompanied by anyone other than a parent or legal guardian, a form giving permission is required; see the Patient Forms section of this web site.

Cancellation Policy

Our office requests a minimum 24 hour cancellation notice whenever possible. Please let us know when you are unable to make an appointment; other patients will be grateful for the chance to see us during that appointment time.

New Patient Appointment

Please arrive 10 minutes prior to appointment. Bring your child’s shot record, insurance card and any other medical records relevant to your child’s medical history. You will be scheduled for a longer visit so your doctor can take a complete medical history and introduce you to our practice.

Obtaining a Copy of Patient Records

The medical records release form must be completed and either mailed or delivered to our office; we will then try to have your records copied and ready within 3 business days. See the Patient Forms section of this web site.

Prescription Refills

Prescription refills may be requested during normal business hours, and should be completed within 24 hours. Please try to anticipate your need for a refill. Medications for ADHD and psychiatric conditions will not be refilled on weekends.

Emergencies

After 5:00 pm and on weekends, your call will be answered by our answering service, RN’s On Call. You will be given advice based on detailed pediatric telephone protocols. If the nurse cannot answer your questions, the doctor on call will be paged and call you back. If your child needs to be seen before the office is open again, you will be directed to the best place of care, such as one of the Memorial or Penrose Urgent Care Clinics, or the emergency department. In some cases, your doctor will recommend hospital admission without an emergency department visit, and will arrange for direct admission to the pediatric ward.

Insurance

We accept most health insurance plans. We accept Medicaid when patients with special needs are referred by a physician.

Prenatal Consults

We offer a consultation with the pediatrician before delivery at no charge.
