About Us
Iron Horse Pediatrics was established in the Railroad Station by Dr. Peter Nielsen and Dr. Edward Maynard in 1998. Now the practice has grown to include 5 pediatricians and 3 physician assistants.
The primary focus of Iron Horse Pediatrics is helping the children of our community enjoy longer, healthier and more productive lives. We strive to provide the highest level of care to our patients; in order to achieve this goal, we offer:
-
A physician on-call 24 hours a day
-
Trained receptionists taking all calls during office hours; no voice mail or automated telephone menu choices
-
A dedicated nurse or medical assistant available by phone throughout our office hours, trained to provide advice and help decide if a child needs to be seen
-
An answering service entirely staffed by registered nurses, which takes calls on evenings and weekends
-
A complimentary prenatal consultation with the pediatrician
-
Care of our patients in the hospital by our own physician group, not by a hospitalist; we round every day at Memorial Central,Memorial North and St. Francis hospitals
-
Physician attendance at deliveries if risk factors are present; a physician visit for every newborn within 12 hours of birth, or within minutes if problems arise
-
Scheduling of appointments to allow enough time to answer all of your questions
-
Coordination of care with pediatric subspecialists and therapists, including timely referral, sharing of records, and telephone consultation
-
Up to date information on such topics as vaccines, community outbreaks, product recalls, or travel recommendations
-
Specialized evaluation tools in our office, such as rapid tests for flu and mono, spirometry testing for asthma, and IMPACT testing for concussion
-
Two convenient locations, downtown and in Briargate
